DIAL-UP ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC CATALOG

 The BCPL Public Catalog can be searched from
any computer that has a modem.

If you dial from a phone network, you may need to dial 9 to get an outside line.
You can call from outside of Bartholomew County (Example 1-812-379-1281),
but you will be charged for a long distance call.
 
Login

 1. When the modem connects, press your <enter/return> key.

2. Then you will see: Enter user name:
Type:        bcpl        and press your <enter/return> key

3.  Then you will see: Enter password:
No password is needed - Just press your <enter/return> key

The login script may hesitate for several seconds.
Please wait, and the connection will go through.

 If the login asks for "Account name or path",
just press your <enter/return> key.

  The system will login automatically until you see the
BCPL Welcome screen.
Press <enter/return> once more to begin searching.

  
Searching
Searching works exactly as it does at the Columbus main library
or Hope Branch with one important exception:
You must always look at the Copy Availability screen to see
the call number or availability of a title.
For each search, you will get the message:
"Press C for Copy status & Location Availability".
Just press C <enter/return>.

 Logoff (Disconnect)
When you are finished using the dial-up catalog, you should:
Choose "Logoff" from the search menu on the screen.
ALSO then
Click on "disconnect" in your modem menu.
