Linking and using a Mouse
Horizon Information Portal
is an Internet application, You move from page to page and from
record to record by mouse clicking. When the cursor hovers over
a link, a line may appear under the link (or a destination address
may show at the bottom of your screen) to indicate that there
is an available link to more information. |
Searching
The initial screen of Horizon
Information Portal gives you a choice of searching methods. By
clicking the "Search" tab, you can do simpler or complex
Boolean searching, too. You can sort the results of your search
by publication date as well. |
"My Account"
A user can see checkouts,
holds, and overdues by clicking on "My Account" and
entering his/her borrower's card number. Your library card barcode number is your
User ID. |
"My Lists"
My List lists
are retained for 20 days. Once you've searched for items
and clicked on the Add to my list buttons, click
on the My Account tab near the top of the page. (You'll
need to log in to your account if you haven't done so before
you did your searching and selecting). Now, click on My
List at the top of this page. This will open up a new page.
On the My List
page, click on the Manage Lists button (on the top
right of your list or at the bottom right of the list). This
will take you to a screen where you'll see the expiration date
for each list. On
the left side on this screen, you can click on My List
(or just click the back one page) and you'll arrive back at the
list of titles. At the bottom left of this page, there's a link
to email this list to yourself. You should email each list as
you create it. Then you won't have to worry about the lists
disappear date. |
Your PIN
For ensured privacy, a PIN
number can be obtained by visiting the main library and filling
our the appropriate form. You do NOT
need to have
a PIN to see your account
online, but
if you asked to have a PIN assigned, you must use it. |
Features
When a title record is on
the screen, options in the far left column may include: Read
a summary,
View the cover art, Link to more library-owned books by this
author, Link to more library-owned titles on this same subject,
Link to Google searches about the author and subjects, Link to
Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble to see more reviews and information |
