Computer Requirements Any computer with a web browser interface (Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, Netscape 4.0 or higher, AOL 4.0 or higher, CompuServe) can reach the iPac catalog. iPac includes: A catalog of items owned by the library Links to reviews and summaries for many titles THE REPUBLIC newspaper index Index of local organizations, clubs, and services Borrowers' access to their currents check-outs and holds Ability for borrowers to place holds and do renewals online Linking and using a Mouse Because iPac is an Internet application, the user moves from page to page and from record to record by mouse clicking. When the cursor hovers over a link, depending on your web browser, a line may appear under the link - or a destination address may show at the bottom of your screen - to indicate that there is an available link to more information. Searching The initial screen of iPac gives a choice of searching methods. By clicking the "Search" tab, a user can do simpler or complex Boolean searching, too. My Account A user can see checkouts, holds, and overdues by clicking on "My Account" and submitting his/her borrower's card number. Your library card barcode number is your User ID. For ensured privacy, a PIN number can be obtained by visiting the main library and filling our the appropriate form. You do NOT need to have a PIN to see your account online, but if you asked to have a PIN assigned, you must use it. New Features When a title record is on the screen, options in the far left column may include: Reading a summary Picture of the cover art Link to more library-owned books by the author Link to more library-owned titles on the same subject Links to Google searches about the author and subjects Links to Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble to see more reviews and information Hours iPAC normally is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
